Wednesday, July 15, 2009 - Last night, 1.36 million viewers* were watching CTV as Meaghan Waller, 19 from Winnipeg, became the last model standing and took home the title of CANADA’S NEXT TOP MODEL, preliminary data from BBM Nielsen Media Research confirms. More than two million viewers watched all or part of the broadcast and with an average audience of 957,000 viewers, the season finale was the most-watched episode of the season, up 31% compared to the season-to-date average. Winning its timeslot at 8 p.m. in total viewers and the key A18-34, A18-49 and A25-54 demos, the episode was the most-watched program on Canadian television last night for A25-54 and the key female demos F18-49 and F25-54. Additionally, CANADA’S NEXT TOP MODEL was also the #1 reality show of the night, delivering more viewers than a simulcast of BIG BROTHER on Global (943,000).read more

Wednesday, July 15, 2009 - There wasn’t a dry eye in the house at tonight’s final judging on CTV’s CANADA’S NEXT TOP MODEL. After weeks of challenges, trips, and photos shoots, Meaghan, 19 from Winnipeg, outlasted 11 eliminations to become the last model standing and win the title of CANADA’S NEXT TOP MODEL. Host Jay Manuel and the judges, FASHIONTELEVISION’s Jeanne Beker, supermodel Yasmin Warsame, Montreal native and A-List photographer Mike Ruiz, and photo shoot Creative Director Nolé Marin, all agreed she had what it takes to win the competition and become Canada’s next model sensation. “Every emotion is pouring through my veins right now,” Meaghan said immediately after being named Canada’s Next Top Model. “I want to travel. Friday, July 10, 2009 - After a challenging week of drama, ripped dresses, tears, and bickering, Maryam was cut loose on tonight’s CANADA’S NEXT TOP MODEL on CTV, leaving the top three competitors to model-it-out in next week’s season finale. The journey has been difficult for Maryam who struggled with a language barrier and passport issues throughout the competition. And while she was disappointed not to be CANADA’S NEXT TOP MODEL, she wasn’t devastated and she’s not giving up. “I really wanted to win this, but I also really wanted to have the experience too,” Maryam said on her departure. “It’s not like this was the only way that I could go. I have a scholarship; my average was ‘A’ in school. I guess I’m going to go back to school and I’ll send my portfolio to the agency and see what happens.”read more

Wednesday, July 8, 2009 - From a Media Release - July 7, 2009 On tonight’s episode, the Top 4 had to nail a Cover Girl photo shoot under the watchful and critical eyes of Nolé Marin and Mike Ruiz. Then Top Model icon Miss J. provided some much needed advice for walking the catwalk. The girls immediately took those lessons into the next challenge as they were wrapped in Cashmere Bathroom Tissue and tasked with strutting a tricky tabletop obstacle course. Unfortunately, the ultra-fragile garments needed dexterity and delicacy and one dress was badly ripped; first by Maryam and then by Linsay. In the end, it was Maryam who moved out of the penthouse.read more
